A bit of history

Casares in a municipality that belongs to the province of Malaga. Thousands of years ago the phoenicians settled here, then came the romans, the arabs and the reconquering...all leaving their legacy and history.
Casares was one of the most important point in the Costa del Sol during the Roman era. It´s name was given by Julius Caesar, who had a strong bond with the baths of Hedionda, thermal waters with healing agents.
After the muslim era, Mohammed V king of Granada, Pedro el Cruel chose this city to raise and give to the uncrowned Granada King. The rise of this city however did not occur until 1570 against King Phillip the II. This revolt caused the end to the Hermitage of the Our Lady of Rosary.

The history of Casares was marked by an important date. July 5, 1885 when Blas Infante was born in Casares, the father of the Andalusian homeland, and the first great andalusian nationalist and founder of the nationalist movement.
